Brian Kunkel President and CEO
Mr. Kunkel brings to Bri-Bet over 25 years of Investigative, Law Enforcement, and Security training, knowledge and experience. Mr. Kunkel has worked with various Federal, State, and local agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), the Department of Defense (DOD), the Maryland Commission on Human Relations (MCHR), and the Weston, West Virginia Police Department. Mr. Kunkel possesses experience in a variety of security industries including Entertainment, Retail and Commercial, and Government and Private Security. While employed in the Law Enforcement field, Mr. Kunkel has served as an Police Administrator, Training Instructor, Field Training Officer, Media Relations Officer and K-9 Team's Administrator and Handler. Mr. Kunkel is a graduate of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), the West Virginia State Police Academy and the Department of Defense Police Academy and currently serves as a Police Lieutenant with a Department of Defense Law Enforcement agency in Maryland.
Mr. Kunkel is an Active Fraternal Member of Lodge 6F of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), an Active Member of the Maryland Investigators and Security Association (MISA) and is also an Active Member and Legislative Committee Member of the Maryland Law Enforcement Officer's Association (MLEO).
Beth Kunkel Executive Vice President
Ms. Kunkel is the majority owner of Bri-Bet and serves as its Executive Vice President. Ms. Kunkel's duties with Bri-Bet have been extensive. In the early formative years, Ms. Kunkel served as the Vice President of Operations and the Chief Financial Officer. As the Chief Financial Officer, Ms. Kunkel initiated the financial structure and workings of Bri-Bet including invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and banking. Since 2011, Mr. Kunkel has applied her experience and expertise as Executive Vice President overseeing all administrative and operational affairs. Ms. Kunkel has been active in formulating and implementing the strategic plan and is centrally involved in all critical operations at Bri-Bet. Ms. Kunkel has over 20 years’ experience working in the finance industry.
James (Jim) Tsompanas Vice President, Operations and Training
Mr. Tsompanas brings to Bri-Bet over 20 years of Law Enforcement training, knowledge and
experience. He is a Federal and State Certified Law Enforcement Instructor whose areas of
expertise are in the SWAT and Tactical fields. Currently he serves as a Tactical Instructor with
the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Maryland, and was recently the lead law
enforcement Instructor and Chief Administrative Officer for a Federal law enforcement Agency in
Maryland. Mr. Tsompanas has served as a Deputy Sheriff with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office,
and held the positions of SWAT/SRT School Instructor, Academy Instructor, and Physical Fitness
Instructor. He was a member of the agencies special operations/ C.A.R.T team.
While serving in the United Stated Army, he was a Protective Services Agent and Team Leader
who planned and oversaw many details throughout Europe and the Middle East. Mr. Tsompanas
specializes in high intensity team development, training, and Stress response and conditioning. He
earned his Bachelor's Degree at Cal State University (Sacramento), in Criminal Justice.
Dave Johansen Vice President, Security Technologies
Dave Johansen is Bri-Bet's Physical Security Consultant. Mr. Johansen's service with the Navy and Army was a tremendous launch pad, which provided tools unmatched by traditional business schools. He has been a local leader with technical organizations ranging from TCI to U.S. West to Quest. His deep knowledge and expertise in telephony, broadband and satellite systems allowed for a seamless transition into the security technology field. Dave has extensive experience and knowledge in advanced CCTV, video surveillance and related technologies. These include concealed weapons detection, long-range wireless video systems and cellular signal intercept and denial. He has traveled abroad extensively and has experience in foreign government sales. His projects in the United States include work at the White House communications department, Camp David, Aberdeen Proving Grounds and the top-rated 5-star hotels in Washington, among many others.
John "Andy" Purdie Security Operations Manager
Mr. Purdie brings to Bri-Bet over 30 years of Law Enforcement and Security experience. Mr. Purdie is a retired Baltimore County Police Officer. During his time with the Baltimore County Police Department, Mr. Purdie was assigned to many positions within the department including: Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Administration, Selective Enforcement, Marine Patrol Officer and Helicopter Observer. Mr. Purdie continues his Law Enforcement activities as a Reserve Officer for the Maryland Natural Resources Police.
Mr. Purdie possesses extensive experience as a Security Officer and has served as an Area Supervisor for many of those years. He is currently licensed as a Security Officer in the state of Maryland and is certified as a Security K-9 Handler and Trainer.
Mr. Purdie is an active member of the Baltimore County Police FOP Lodge #4.
